At 699 St. Clair Avenue West sits a meat lovers dream. Those on a diet should avoid at all cost. Plenty of fat and meat to be enjoyed (in moderation people!)
Stockyards Smokehouse and Larder is no run of the mill burger joint. Specializing in hand-smoked items like North Carolina pulled pork, Romanian/Montreal pastrami and Roman porchetta and also deep fried delicacies like Spanish salted cod with chorizo fritters and classic Southern fried chicken.
All food is served wrapped in wax paper and propped inside antique cast iron pans. I ordered the Porchetta Sandwich (with fennel garlic scented pork loin, belly, and cracklings served on a baguette, with garlic aioli). I also sampled my friends BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries (apple and hickory smoked pork shoulder topped with coleslaw and Stockyards BBQ sauce on a classic store bought bun).
