The Senator Diner at Dundas Square in Toronto

The Senator is one of the most iconic restaurants in Toronto, located just kitty corner to Yonge and Dundas Square on Victoria Street across from the Canon Theatre.

The house at 249 Victoria Street that has become The Senator, Toronto’s oldest restaurant, dates back to the 19th century. From 1984, it expanded from a family restaurant into one of the most renowned hospitality operations in the city. As soon as my dad walked into the place he commented that he felt he was in a New York City based mafia film (and I sorta hoped Woody Allen was slouching somewhere over a basket of wings in the back corner). This is an amazing spot to go on a date, such fantastical ambiance!

We ordered:

Classic Chicken Cob Salad with Balsamic Dressing

Slow Braised Short Ribs in a Red Wine Sauce

Mac and Cheese
