I recently met sweetie pie Daniella Gullo during Social Media Week’s Food Panel discussion which I moderated. She asked a couple of great questions and I instantly took a fancy to her enthusiasm and charisma. We decided to set up a time for us to meet up for dinner after work to chat. I had been meaning to check out Mavrik Winebar for some time and decided it would be a great place for us to meet as it was so close to her work.
This little restaurant on Queen West is a perfect spot to grab a few after work nibbles and a glass of wine. The menu is short and sweet (and scrawled on a large chalk board above the kitchen). There is also another chalk board which outlines which charcuterie and cheeses they are featuring.
Mavrik certainly puts an emphasis on its wine list. Once I plopped myself into my seat I had a large white menu placed in front of me. Of course I assumed this was the food menu but soon realized the wine list was lengthy and the food menu was up on the wall. Mavrik has been praised for its unique wine list, featuring many wines by the glass that you can’t even purchase through the LCBO.
Daniella arrived, we scanned the menu and ordered a few treats whilst spending the next hour or so swishing wine under our noses and talking social media. Sounds like a perfect night to me, and it was.
