It had been some time since I last waltzed into Yorkville’s iconic Windsor Arms Hotel. Over the past year I’ve had the opportunity to dine at Prime Restaurant as well as sipped and nibbled the pomp at their special Titanic Tea experience.
On a perfect Spring afternoon in mid May I met my dear friend Sarah under the stunning chandelier in the hotels intimate lobby. Sarah is getting married this July, my first friend to tie the knot! She met her husband-to-be while living in London UK and recently mentioned to me how she missed British tea culture. I made sure to invite her to my upcoming visit to the Windsor Arms Tea Room so we could both raise a glass to her upcoming wedding and relish in our favourite British culinary ritual.
We met after work on a Monday evening to experience the hotels Twilight Tea which is served daily with 5:30pm and 6:00pm seatings. We were seated in the purple tea room and started things off with a celebratory glass of sparkling. Our Twilight Tea featured a lovely assortment of dainty sandwiches, mini quiche, classic scones with devon cream and preserves…all finished off with a plate of petite sweets.
Kudos to the team at The Windsor Arms for their Fancy Hats Program which raises funds for Look Good Feel Better. The Tea Room offers a collection of wild and wonderful party hats which guests can pay $5.00 to wear during their visit. Proceeds of the program are donated to LGFB; a charity that offers free hands-on cosmetic and hair alternative workshops for women with cancer. So grab a feather adorned cap, pull up your sleeves and point your pinky at the chandelier above. Sip, nibble, rest, relax. Repeat.
Special thanks to the team at The Windsor Arms Hotel for hosting us as their guest for Tea.
